Part X: Erie Community Schools is "Casting" Our Future to the Wind
by Superintendent Mike Ryan
August 30, 2007
All turbine components are now at our site in Erie. The final two (2) tower sections arrived on July 28, 2007. Once again it was a great "show" for our small community to view these huge tower turbine sections rolling into town. Just a week prior to the tubular sections arrival we had another "show" as the three (3) turbine blades arrived on July 12, 2007. Each blade is approximately 90' in length and weigh in at 4,000 lbs.
Currently the erection process is on hold. There has been a land property line question raised by the owner of the property adjacent to to the turbine site. Johnson Controls, Inc. is working with the landowner to rectify the situation so we can initiate the turbine assembly. Once the "green light" to start the erection process is given it takes approximately seven (7) days for the process to be completed.
Please view the new web site pictures at the link on the bottom of this page. It will provide you a pictorial history of our project to date.
