Middle School Music

Contest Results

    On Saturday, March 15th, the Erie Middle School Music Department participated in the Morrison Music Contest. The 6th Grade Chorus, 7th and 8th Grade Chorus and 7th and 8th Grade Band performed in the Morrison High School Auditorium to start the day and then solos and small groups performed throughout the rest of the day at Morrison Junior High. Students from Erie Middle School, Morrison Junior High and River Bend Middle School participated in the contest. The day concluded with an Honors Recital featuring the top performers from the various performance centers. Performers from Erie chosen to perform on the Honors Recital were a flute trio, a female vocal quartet and a male vocal ensemble. Performing in the flute trio were: Aubrey Graham, Sara Naftzger and Shelby VanHoosier. Members of the female vocal quartet were: Erin Bowling, Lydia Kim, Sarah Naftzger and Hope Tiemann. The male ensemble consisted of: Robby Cobert, Daniel Graham, Alan Kuhlemier, Cannon Lambert, Brandon McCullough, Connor Nitz, Seth Ryan and Chris Stanley.

The performances were judged on various musical qualities and then assigned a rating. Ratings were Division I - Superior, Division II - Excellent, Division III - Good

The EMS 6th Grade Chorus and 7th and 8th Grade Band received Division II ratings and the 7th and 8th Grade Chorus received a Division I rating.

Vocal Solo - Lydia Kim, Hope Tiemann, Seth Ryan, Peyton McCormick, Shelby VanHoosier, Alex Danekas, Danika Smith, Daniel Graham, Aubrey Graham and Brandon McCullough

Instrumental Solo - Connor Saad, xylophone, Lydia Kim, violin, Johanna Johnson, clarinet , Kyle Coleman, snare drum , Kassidy Olsen, multiple percussion , Alex Danekas, clarinet, Aubrey Graham, flute, Sara Naftzger, piano, Robby Cobert, trumpet, Sara Naftzger, flute, and Shelby VanHoosier, flute.

Vocal Ensemble - Brittany Coers, Shelby VanHoosier, Kayla Waggoner - trio, Erin Bowling, Lydia Kim, Sara Naftzger and Hope Tiemann - quartet, Erin Bowling and Lydia Kim - duet, Aubrey Graham, Shelby Bowling, Danika Smith, Brandon McCullough, Cannon Lambert and Robby Cobert - mixed ensemble and Robby Cobert, Daniel Graham, Alan Kuhlemier, Cannon Lambert, Brandon McCullough, Connor Nitz, Seth Ryan and Chris Stanley - male ensemble

Instrumental Ensemble - Marrisa Large and Peyton McCormick - woodwind duet, Aubrey Graham, Sara Naftzger, Shelby VanHoosier, flute trio, and Cannon Lambert, Danika Smith and Nick Stoddard, brass trio.

Vocal Solo - EmmaLee Wilson and Kayla Waggoner

Instrumental Solo - Alan Kuhlemier, euphonium, Jace Bright, oboe and Daniel Graham, multiple percussion

Vocal Ensemble - Hailey Masscho and Angel Monical, duet, Erin Bowling, Marissa Large and Peyton McCormick, trio, Haley Masscho, Angel Monical, Kerri Petersen and EmmaLee Wilson, quartet and Alex Danekas and Danika Smith, duet

Instrumental Ensemble - Kassidy Olsen and Connor Saad, snare drum duet

Serving as piano accompanists for the day’s events were Connie Swanson-DeSpain, Kali Livengood and Mrs. Janicek.
