Third Grade Learns about Metamorphosis

Third graders were able to see first hand the life cycle of a monarch butterfly. Corbin brought a caterpillar to school with several milkweed leaves for it to eat. A couple of days later, the caterpillar had changed into its chrysalis. Two weeks later, the beautiful monarch butterfly emerged. Since these students are studying life cycles of living things in their science class it was a perfect opportunity to observe the changes of larva, to pupa, to adult. It was exciting to release the butterfly and watch it fly away.
