Preparing for Your Academic Life after Erie High School


f you are debating whether college is right for you, go to The Think College website -- whether you are middle school, high school, or an adult contemplating a return to school.
Think College? Me? Now?  is aimed at either middle or high school students and tells why to consider college, how to prepare, and how to pay for college.
Go to the Student and/or Parent Zone at ISAC's College Zone site to learn about planning, selecting, and applying to colleges as well as the finance part.
College Opportunities On-Line (COOL) links to over 9,000 colleges and universities and allows students to search by name, location, program, degree offerings, or a combination of criteria.
For links to all Illinois community colleges, public and private colleges and universities, click on this Illinois Board of High Education site link.
A great general source of info is the Career Information System.  This link takes you to a log-in page for the Illinois Career Info Network.  From there, once you have logged in, you can click on several categories under "Education and Training,"  including listings of Illinois and national schools, programs of study, links to financial aid, a school sort by programs offered, and even a side-by-side comparison of up to three schools.
A user-friendly site for all types of general college info (testing, preparing, searching) is found at Schools in the USA.  It specializes in in-depth info on business, engineering, teaching, fine arts, and health occupations but also contains a lot of general resources.
If you happen to be interested in a college in one of nine states listed or the District of Columbia, you can get a 360 iPIX tour of campus locations at eCampusTours.
Evaluate what colleges will be a good fit for you at wiredscholar.com.
If you are really thinking ahead, consider how you can transfer courses from a local community college to a four-year institution by checking out itransfer.
