School Board Members are elected to four (4) year terms. The elections are held on the first Tuesday in April in odd-numbered years. Following the canvas of votes the Board then elects officers and sets the monthly scheduled Board meeting dates of the fourth Monday at 6:30 p.m. Board members serve a variety of district committees and represent the district on local and State issues.
The Erie Board of Education is responsible for determining policies, setting the school district budget, and generally maintaining standards of excellence in education on behalf of the community. Erie School Board Members are committed to lifelong learning, and in their commitment, they are participants in training and board development opportunities through their involvement in the Illinois School Board Association.
Meetings and Protocal
The posting of meetings and meeting agendas can be found in The Review and on the Erie web page approximately two (2) days prior to the meeting date.
Individuals are welcome to attend meetings. If anyone wishes to address the Board of Education unannounced, the agenda item, Public Comments, is the preferred time. The preferred steps to address the Board of Education is to contact the superintendent at least a week in advance to be placed on the agenda with a topic of discussion or a proposal to be considered.
